I started with Ancestry.com in January 2013, and have been overwhelmed with all the info they have collected. But some trees have incorrect info and it takes a lot of scrutiny to figure out the right line, as so many were named the same name! But through Oscar B. Abbott’s marriage to Anna E. Prescott, Ral is also a direct descendant of Alfred the Great, all through the female lines of Standish, Radcliffe, Harrington, De Neville. Some of these lines go very far back to Sweden, Norway. It’s so surreal sometimes!
How far back have you been able to trace the Abbot line? I found the name back to Sir Robert Abbott (1190-March 1240), then to a Ralph DeAbbott – 1190, but then it’s hard to substantiate anything more beyond this name.
It has been a fascinating journey finding our ancestors and can only imagine what their lives must have been like!
If you have more info on the Abbott’s, we would be very interested in it. Hope this email finds you and the Abbott’s all well! And thank you for a wonderful website!
Sincerely,
Ral and Harriett Abbott
