Hi, my name is Emily Abbott and I am doing a project on when my family immigrated to the US. We are fairly certain that George Abbot is our ancestor, but we are having a hard time making a full connection between George and our family. I was wondering if you could help me, for my project and I know my family would be very excited if we finally pieced together our past.

Ernie I believe we are related? My maternal grandmother was Verdie Mary Abbott Oldham Kentucky 1912-1989. I was adopted in 1965 so I dont have any connection with paternal family.
Michael D. Feldmann given name at birth Michael James Coleman. I want to know more can you help? Thanks, Mike We are purchasing an old home built in 1915 that was originally built as a train station/ticket booth by a Captain Abbott in Randlett, Utah. I am trying to find pictures of the original homestead. We want to restore some of the house to its original state. We have heard stories about him being a ferry master as well, along the river behind the house. I was just wondering if you had any specific information on his history. We have found an original big shipping box that is still at the house with newspaper lining dating back to 1916. I would appreciate your help. Thanks Tonia Steffey
Hi, I am recently beginning research on my family ancestry. I started with the most recent Abbotts obviously who are still alive and are my immediate family and then I wanted to see how far I could get. I'm a novice at ancestral research however, but you seem to have done much of the research already. I'm wondering if you could possibly confirm the following lineage: Arleigh Abbott - my grandfather John Herman Abbott- my great grandfather and so on for the rest of the names listed. Ace Asa Abbott Kneeland Abbott III Kneeland Abbott II or Jr Kneeland Abbott I or Sr Ephraim Abbott II or Jr Ephraim Abbott I or Sr John Abbott (wife Sarah) George Abbott III (wife Hannah) George Abbott II or Jr (wife Elizabeth) George Abbott I or Sr (wife Bridget) William Abbott (wife Margaret) John Abbott I (wife Margaret) William Abbott (wife Mary) That's as far as I've found. Mostly through Ancestry.com and through other peoples work as I am finding many trees that include the Abbotts. I'm just trying to confirm that my line that I've found is factual all the way through and that I didn't accidentally pick up somewhere on the wrong Abbott line. I know for a fact as far as can be confirmed from my grandfather's mouth that Asa was my great great grandfather but all the other names are through research and I don't have the hard evidence I wish I had to know for sure. Does any of your research go down the line as I described above that would suggest I'm on the right path? Thank you so much in advance for any information you might be able to provide! I am very hopeful to learn more about my family as my line is dwindling quickly and I'm afraid if I don't learn more sooner rather than later, I might not have many Abbotts left to discuss our family with. I have one Uncle who is carrying on the name (he has 4 little Abbotts). Other than that it there are all women who have picked up other names. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon, Thanks, Mandy (Abbott) Brooks
Hello Richard, I wish you all the best with your genealogy search. There are many sites in England to access, unfortunately, they are mostly pay sites. As you can see from my genealogy site, I have traced my ancestry back to 1470. I am aware of some of the names you mention in your lineage, but it is different than mine, as Abbot was a somewhat common name back in those days. I have not been able, as yet, to determine if there is any connection between your Abbott's and mine back then. There are also folks over there that advertise for a price, they will do the research for you, I've never pursued that avenue either. Again, I wish you all the best with putting your particular lineage puzzle together. Hi Ernie,
Ran across your site on the Abbotts and would like to join in. Checked your blog - how does one sign up or ?? Is there a search function available? Not use to some of these blogs so bear with me. Currently working back from Sylvester Dana Abbott, 20 Sep 1858, from Rumney. Have some excellent pictures of same and would like to share. Thank you Alan I am researching my family tree and was blown away by your incredible research on George Abbot I. He is my 7th Great Grandfather. My ancestors from my mother's side have been in the states since before the states were formed. Two relatives came over on the Mayflower, and now, your information shows another relative came over on the Arbella in 1637 I greatly appreciate your work. Thank you. Stephen Dickson
What more do you know about the James Abbott photo on your page: http://abbottfamily.weebly.com/abbott-authors.html I'm researching my Abbott genealogy but it is very fuzzy... here's what I think I have: 1. Richard Abbott (b. 1720) 2. James Abbott (b. 1740) m. Sarah ___ 3. Nancy Abbott (b. 1770, d. 1789) m. Julian Phelps, Sr. 4. William "Shorthand" Phelps m. Sarah Logsdon ... Can you tell is my James is the same as your James? Thanks in advance, Joe D. Johnson [email protected]
Thank you so much for your website! I cannot stop reading on it! I have recently gotten into my ancestry and absolutely love it! I am a decent of George and Hannah Chandler Abbott through their son William and on down. I am new to all this and still learning the ropes of genealogy but I am in absolute awe of the Abbott family and I am proud to be an Abbott. Thank you for sharing your research. This is a screen shot of my lineage so far. I am now working on finding supporting details. Any pointers for a beginner? Thanks again!
Kristina Abbott Houston, Texas Oct 6, 2012 Hey cuz! Yes indeed, from George and Hannah. Where I grew up, on Abbot Hill in Wilton, NH, the next farm to ours was still called the Chandler farm. When some Andover families moved to settle Wilton, NH, after the French and Indian war, they settled near each other as they had been in Andover (especially related families). Interesting, isn't it? I'll look and see what I might have about William A. /I recently moved, so all my stuff is still in stacks of boxes. But labeled, so I SHOULD be able to find it....:>/ ELinor A On Sun, 6 Oct 2013 8:53:48 -0400 <[email protected]> wrote: >Hello Elinor, Thank you for the link to your book, it is something I would really like to read. Are you, like me, descended from George Abbot and Hannah Chandler Abbot? If so, that would make us distant cousins. I have been to Andover a few times and love it there. Next in my lineage is their 6th child, William, born November 18, 1657, died October 24, 1713. Information about him is very scarce, I was wondering if you have any info about him that you could share or maybe some possible sources I could research. Thank you in advance and I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, Ernie Abbott Cumberland, RI 401-419-1047 or 401-333-5433
